Colin Montgomerie Visits Design at Imperial Springs in China
December 11, 2009: Colin Montgomerie made a recent design visit to his latest project in China, Imperial Springs Golf Club in Conghua, Guangdone Province. The Imperial Springs project, just 1 hour outside of Guangzhou, is being developed by Kingold Group and will include a state-of-the-art conference center, a boutique all suite hotel, private hot spring spa villas and the 6800 m2 Presidential Villa designed to accommodate heads of state and other VIPs. Total investment in the project is approximately RMB 8 billion.
Due to open in late 2010, this 27-hole championship course, will surely become one of China's best. Colin Montgomerie commented, "This site is truly unique and the best I have been involved with in China. The blend of hills, winding valleys, and a river, all help create so many enjoyable and instantly memorable golf holes."
In addition to Colin Montgomerie and his design team at IMG, Kingold has spared no expense in hiring a team of world-class consultants and project team members including Pinnacle Design from the USA who are responsible for all of the landscape and water feature designs. Montgomerie further added, "After seeing the site and walking all 27holes over 2 days I am very happy with the construction progress to date. It is certainly being constructed to a very high standard by the Kingold Group. Not only will this golf course be world class, but the entire Imperial Springs project is very impressive and unique not only to China, but to all of Asia."
Adjacent to the Phoenix Mountain, the golf course runs through undulating hills and around small lakes. In addition to a luxurious Chinese imperial style clubhouse, the golf experience will be enhanced by China's first ever remote controlled buggies and "tee off villas" located near the first tee for the exclusive use of VIP golfers. Only members and their invited guests will be able to play Imperial Springs.
