The Dutch, The Netherlands

The Dutch is a new 18 hole course and practice facility at Spijk, near Gorinchem, in the Netherlands. The clients, Made In Scotland, are dedicated to creating unique golf and business environments and the aim is to produce a high quality championship golf course which will be individually styled to help them to meet this objective.

Construction began in early 2008, dealing first with some of the unique engineering solutions required to create this flat farmland into a first class golf course. Since then exciting and often quite radical shaping has been used to create a rugged golf course character where undulating fairways, featuring many bumps and hollows, are framed by dramatic mounding. Out of necessity on land which is below sea level there are also many water features with several lakes and many canals coming into play.

By the end of 2009 11 holes had been seeded and the remaining holes will be completed in the spring of 2010. The golf course will be open for play in October 2010.
