The 2007 Open Championship - Carnoustie
Colin was at the Golf in Turkey Stand to talk with Cahit Sahin, the Project Manager of Monty's new course in Turkey, Papillon Golf Club.
Monty and Cahit chatted about the design of the course, Colin also said he looked forward to visiting the course to check on construction progress.
While he was there Monty took time to sign autographs and official merchandise.
The Montgomerie Course at Papillon Golf Club will form part of a new $100 million golf and hotel complex. To compliment the 18 hole championship golf course there will be a flood lit 9 hole short course and a golf academy, as well as a luxury 5 star hotel and up to 40 holiday villas which will join the four existing Papillon hotels in Belek.
Mustafa Nazik, President of Papillon Hotels said “We are delighted to announce the addition of The Montgomerie Course at Papillon Golf Club to our family of resorts. I am very honoured that Colin Montgomerie is bringing his design experience and personality to our portfolio”. Colin will be working closely with his design partners, European Golf Design, with whom he worked with at Carton House, Ireland, the venue for last weeks Nissan Irish Open. Other projects he is working on with European Golf Design include Punta Perla – Dominican Republic, The Dutch Golf Club – Holland, Rublevka – Russia and Rowallan Castle – Scotland.
The course will be completed and opened November 2007
