Colin and his family established the Elizabeth Montgomerie Foundation in 2007 to raise money for cancer and specifically, lung cancer patients in Scotland.
Colin's mother died of this disease in 1991 and so he is aware of the devastating effect it can have on patients, carers and their families. The Foundation will initially focus on supporting people in Glasgow, which has some of the highest rates of lung cancer in the world.
Working alongside specialists in their field, Colin and his team are aiming to build The Elizabeth Montgomerie Centre to provide practical and emotional support to cancer patients and their families. Colin has already raised a significant sum towards this goal and has planned a number of fundraising initiatives in 2009.
