I am delighted to continue my successful
partnership with Yonex during 2008,
with 14 Yonex clubs in the bag from
Driver through to Putter. For me this is the best equipment there is.
Woods,
Cyberstar Nanospeed Driver & Cyperstar
Nanospeed Fairway Woods
The Yonex Cyberstar Nanospeed, 9 degrees, titanium, 460cc sits perfectly behind the ball. I'm not interested in launch conditions and angles; if it look good and it goes well, it's in. My driver is heavier than some, with a D6 swingweight. This helps my rhythm. I like to feel the clubhead. My driver spec is based on control, not power. My 3-wood is a Yonex Cberstar Nanospeed, 15 degress.
Irons, Cyberstar Nanospeed Irons
(2-PW) VX Cyberstar standard lie, 4.4 degrees of loft apart. I've worked closely with the Yonex
R&D department in Japan
to help
them produce my perfect set of irons. I'm looking for a bit of help from my irons, because I'm not perfect either. These are cavity backs, filled up but with peripheral weighting. The 2,3 and 4 have a wider sole, 6,7,8,9 normal. As I address the ball they look like a blade, but the cavity backs are more forgiving. I am one of the few tour pros to use graphite shafts in his irons. I do this because these shafts - Ultimum ti - are made to my spec. They are very low torque, with a high kick point and D5 swingweight. Yonex are the only company to make heads and shafts, and that gives me confidence.
Wedges, Cyberstar T - 1
(54°, 60°) Yonex Cyberstar prototypes; the 54° is for under 100 yards, the 60° for bunkers and short shots. The wedges were manufactuered
to produce all the characteristics
I am looking for around the green.
Utility Club - Hybrid Cyberstar XC
No.4, 22 degrees loft. This hybrid club gives
me the confidence to go for the green,
whatever the lie.
Putter, Cyberstar
CP - 01
Designed for greater feel and
accurate feedback.
Ball
A Callaway HX Tour prototype. They have a great combination of feel, control and distance.
