Vision, drive and delivery are qualities that are as important to us as they are to today's golf stars. That's why we are proud to sponsor Colin Montgomerie, victorious 2010 Ryder Cup Captain and record holder for the most European title wins by a British golfer in golfing history.
At Aberdeen, asset management is all we do. Our single-minded approach, along with our dedicated investment processes and team expertise, has helped us become one of the UK's leading independent asset managers today.
Martin Gilbert, Chief Executive of Aberdeen Asset Management: "We are proud to support one of the world's highest profile and most respected golfers. Golf combines Scottish roots with a global presence; attributes which feature strongly in Aberdeen's own business model. Colin has been a major figure in world golf for over 20 years now and I am delighted that Aberdeen continues to be associated with him at tournaments around the world. His dedication, discipline and success are all qualities valued equally by Aberdeen.
Commenting on the sponsorship, Colin Montgomerie said: "I am extremely proud to be associated with Aberdeen Asset Management.
Not only does the company have a strong Scottish heritage but the location of its offices worldwide fits perfectly with my playing schedule, enabling me to meet with Aberdeen representatives and clients in Europe, Asia and the Americas. This has proved an extremely beneficial relationship for both parties and I look forward to continuing to work closely with the Aberdeen Asset Management team into the future"
Aberdeen Asset Management PLC is an international asset management group, managing £177 billion (as at 31 August 2011) in assets for both institutions and private individuals. We are a truly global company with 30 offices located in 23 different countries. Our mission is to deliver superior fund performance across diverse asset classes in which we believe we have a sustainable competitive edge. Since turning professional in 1987 Montgomerie has recorded 31 European Tour tournament victories and has won the European Order of Merit a record eight times, most recently in 2005. He has been a major figure in the turnaround of European Ryder Cup fortunes since making his debut appearance in the bi-annual competition in 1991, recording a total of eight cup appearances and finishing on the winning side on five occasions. Montgomerie was instrumental in Europe's record equalling defeat of the USA at the K Club in 2006 where he maintained his record of never having lost a Ryder Cup singles match. The forty-eight year old has also finished runner-up four times in Major Championships. His most recent achievement was captaining the winning 2010 Ryder Cup team at Celtic Manor.
As part of the sponsorship, Colin wears Aberdeen branded clothing at tournaments worldwide and takes part in a number of events with the company.
