Colin I\'m in the Army myself and from Scotland and I had a huge smile on my face when I read you were in Afghanistan well done to you for your support. I have followed your career for the last 20 odd years and I think you have 1 Major in you yet. I think you got 2-3 years to do it get yourself fit and go for it you only get 1 life and you were blessed with a huge talent so its time you lifted your head and gave it your all for the next few years and show everyone that you still got it. I am praying you make the Ryder Cup as its in Scotland and I will be going. I hope this message helps spur you on Mr Montgomerie as you visiting the troops helped spur us on.
All the best big man

Monty,
Honoured that as as Serving Soldier you took the time to visit our amazing troops in Afghanistan last week. My Boss was on the C17 with you and presented me with an amazing present - A picture of you and him holding the Ryder cup and more amazingly a note from you that read - "For Staff Sergeant Richie Clare, Chief Clerk, Headquarters 19 Light Brigade, Best wishes (Signature) MONTY" - How proud am I - Only wish I had been there to both meet you and to be along side my comrades in arms. WELL DONE SIR.

Would just like to say thank you for your recent visit to the servicemen and women in Afghanistan. I was lucky enough to get away for a short time to listen to your question and answer period in HQ IJC on KAIA which I enjoyed immensely. I also had the great privilege of shaking your hand and having my photo taken with you with the Ryder Cup. (I was the one from Kinlochleven, by glencoe, born in Oban! ).
The visit was a very much appreciated gesture and I thank you and wish you all the very best for the future.
Regards,
Graham.

Dear Monty, I'd like to thank you very much for the visit you paid to us in Kabul on the 26th November. I'm sure it was the first time that the Ryder Cup was in Afghanistan... Let's think positive for the future of this country and wish that golf activity will be part of it.
Best regards,
Philippe.

Hi Monty (will not call you Colin as Monty is more appropriate in war torn Iraq!).
I was really pleased, but not surprised, to see you providing a bit of relief to those a whole lot worse off than we can imaging.
I have been the match and handicap convenor at Greenock GC for 15 years, but have never felt the urge or desire to e mail anyone. I feel that you should take huge pride in your latest venture.
Well done,
George

Dear Monty,
Greetings from the States! Just wanted to say what a positive role model you are for the game of golf. Your integrity and calmness on the course is something all golfers should take note of. Playing-wise, I seriously believe that you can get back into the world's top-50 and compete week in and week out. Looking forward to you competing in the 3-4 tournaments you have left and hopefully you can qualify for the Dubai World Championship. With next year being a Ryder Cup year, it would be a great story if you could qualify for the team and compete with the world's best golfers. I feel that you are one round away from completely changing your season and picking up a win. I also believe that you have at least one Major run left in your quest for your first Major. Hopefully it’s the Open Championship! Looking forward to the end of your season and all the best as you continue to improve and compete.

Dear Colin,
I was recently on holiday in Portugal, and was very lucky to come and watch the Portugal Masters on the Friday.I watched you at Wentworth last year and so was lucky to follow you round for your last nine holes of your second round, where you needed a birdie on the last three holes, in which you did on the 8th par 3 , a great putt ! I would like to thankyou for your autograph
So well done Colin for the Ryder Cup win and thanks again for the pleasure in watching you at the Portugal Masters.
Kind Regards,
Peter Howells

Hi Colin, I am just sending you a message to thank you for taking a few minutes of your time out with your family to come over and speak with my son Jordan and have your photograph taken with him.. It really made his day.. As my partner Scott explained to you we were returning to Edinburgh sick kids so Jordan can have intensive chemotherapy and will be in hospital for couple months.. Jordan hasn't stopped talking about it since meeting yourself and it took his mind off of returning to hospital so thank you once again for making my son smile for first time in ages .. Much appreciated Norma and Scott

Colin,
I had the special pleasure to play with you in the Pro-am at Riviera a few years ago. I thoroughly enjoyed the time spent with you, your help, and your stories and playing with you after following you for 4 days at the PGA in 1995. You are a total class act. I was so happy for you and the European team on your winning the Ryder Cup last year. Congratulations, it is well deserved. I hope that you come back and play in the Northern Trust Open again. You remain my favourite golfer and still believe you have a major in you!!! I hope you believe in your talents as much as I do. Look at Darren, it can be done. Best wishes.
Jim

: Colin,
Just a note to tell you how much I enjoyed watching you at Gleneagles on the Saturday, it was the first time for many years that I had attended a tournament and the last time I watched you play was at Hawick when you played an exhibition match with Nick Faldo. I really hope you get back into the top fifty and think you are a great ambassador for the game of golf. I started playing again at the age of 47 after a 31 year lay off.
