Monty is one of the greatest Ryder Cup players of all time having been a member of the European team on eight occasions never losing a singles match. As captain Monty led the European team to victory in 2010.

Monty led Europe to Ryder Cup glory against the United States at The Celtic Manor Resort in October 2010, confirming his legendary status in the biennial contest. Inspired his Team to a 14½-13½ victory as The Ryder Cup spilled into Monday for the first time in its history after torrential rain in Wales, and called it the finest moment of his career. The Ryder Cup is in his blood and as a player he represented Europe eight times, becoming in 2006 the second European to win the contest five times. Was top scorer at the The Belfry in 2002 with four and a half points out of five, and holed the winning putt at Oakland Hills in 2004. Victory over David Toms at The K Club in 2006 ensured he remained unbeaten in eight Ryder Cup singles matches stretching back to 1991. In total he has secured 23.5 points from 36 matches and is the third highest points scorer in European history.

“If I tell you that I can remember virtually every shot I have hit in a Ryder Cup, it will go some way towards explaining how much this biennial contest means to me”
